Every once in a while, instead of going out for dinner, i will invite my friend over for 'jia chang bian fan' (home cooked fare).
I saw some twee bak (pork leg) going at 99cents per 100gm at Carrefour and suddenly had the urge to make lor bak (braised pork). So I bought 2 packets and cook them at night, after work, thinking i will have them for dinner the next day.
Then, the girls decided to meet up, so i thought, since i already have the braised pork, i can cook up a few simple dish and we can eat at my place.
So, I went to buy 'tau pok' (fried beancurd skin) during lunch to add to my 'lor bak'. Hubby bought 2 packs of vege on the way home.
Took cab to friend's office and she drove me home. Upon reaching, we quickly put the tau pok in to braise in the sauce of the 'lor bak' until soft.
Saw some 'chye por' (preserved raddish) in the fridge so decided to make chye por omelette. I had a packed of marinated chicken wings and drums in the freezer, defrost them in the microwave and roast them in the oven.
In less than 2 hrs, we have a home cooked meal for 6.
I love cooking for my friends!

Birthday celebration
This yr we have planned to celebrate hubby's birthday dinner with his family.
So the day before his birthday i cooked his favourite tenderloin, sausage and salad.

And on the morning of this birthday, i cook mee sua with red husk paste (with chicken and mushroom).
Not forgetting 2 hardboiled eggs for longevity! Thought i did very well but later that night realise that i am not suppose to peel the egg for him. The birthday boy is suppose to peel the eggs himself :(
ok lor, less work for me next yr!

Colleague Appreciation day - 10 July
Today is Colleague Appreciation day in office. Its a yearly event, the charities will come in and get u to buy chocolates and flowers for charity and give to your colleagues. I find it quite meaningful but after 2 yrs of it, people got tired of giving flowers and chocolates (those cheapo and only-left-1-mth-before-expiry type) so some went out to get their own.
So end up i have a mini cornetto (ended up eating 2 cos they have extras, one vanilla and one Oreo), a 717 durian cupcake and chocolate (2 boxes). See pic below.

Didnt take picture but i also have a Miss Chatterbox figurine and a orange gerbera...
I have very nice colleagues, but i am not so nice.
I didn't prepare anything.
So i will make something over the weekend and bring to office.
Promise.
